Mississenewa Overhead Crane Replacement

The project involved replacing the existing controls, trolley, and bridge drives, as well as handling the lead and asbestos abatement associated with it.

A challenge was presented as the project required designing a 140 ft long lift 20 Ton hoist trolley unit that could fit in a very tight headroom condition. Additionally, the team designed a new bridge drive and a full new catwalk for the crane, along with new VFD controls.

The installation was done in the air without removing the crane, and completed entirely by Sievert’s crew of union ironworkers, electricians, and hoist technicians. The final stage involved load testing with water weights on-site.
