Lock and Dam 20 Bulkhead Lifter Repair

The equipment, consisting of a 40 ton bulkhead lifter/traveling unit with a 40 ton Linkbelt crane on top, sustained severe damage in a storm, causing it to drop almost 15 feet off the end of the dam. Sievert Crane & Hoist disassembled the pieces, inspected the extent of the damage, and developed a repair plan.

The scope of work included providing a new motor and brake for the bulkhead lifter, upgrading to VFD technology, performing all the weld repairs, sandblasting, painting, and reassembling the unit. The project was completed with load testing and training of government personnel.
