Featured Project
Sievert Crane & Hoist was the prime contractor for the 40T bulkhead lifter upgrade and repair project at Lock and Dam 15, commissioned by the USACE.
Contact UsThe scope of the project involved a complete redesign and upgrade of the electrical systems on the bulkhead lifter, including the removal of the existing controls and bridge drives. Additionally, the project handled the lead abatement and asbestos abatement associated with the removal of the crane electric system.
Sievert Crane & Hoist designed new motors and VFD controls for the bulkhead lifter and both 20T hoists and trolleys. Everything was installed in the captive dam without removing the crane, which was a challenging feat. Furthermore, we designed a 1500 ft fully heated and enclosed conductor bar system located directly over the Mississippi river.
We then installed everything with 100% of their crew of union ironworkers, electricians, and hoist technicians. Finally, the project was load-tested on-site to ensure that the bulkhead lifter and hoists were functioning correctly.
